Описание к видео I Uploaded the Hardest Team Precision Blue Platform Level || Stasis

Hey! This is the part where I yap endlessly about the level.
So far, this is my hardest clear in SMM2, but it's also the most important feeling one for my journey of playing this game. I've wanted to name a level "Stasis" for a while, since that's the name of a song I wrote which has a lot of personal significance to me. Stasis, the song, relates to feelings of depression and feeling trapped in episodes of inactivity, and then finding motivation to follow my dreams. I listen to that song sometimes for self-reflection, and it brings me into the moment where I'm just listening and not worrying about anything else while it's playing. It makes me feel connected with the other times I had previously played it, and that really does bring me motivation to continue pushing forward to achieve my goals. I know Stasis isn't the best song of all time, but it's my song, it's an expression of myself, and that makes it powerful for me.

So, for Mario Maker, I wanted to make Stasis "the level" feel like an expression of myself as a maker, to put everything I really like in hard levels into my most ambitious project so far. I knew I loved blue platforms and fire flower gameplay, so after I cleared Mr. Clean, I got the idea that I could make Stasis into that style of level. I didn't want to build it until I felt like I was good enough to do the idea justice, so I tried to clear as many hard blue platform levels as I could. I cleared a new hardest level twice, with Mr. Green (TP 10.5) and then Sapphire Sanctum (TP 11). With my Photon Fatality clear (TP 11), I had finally beaten every blue platform level rated a 7 or higher. It was time for my hardest challenge yet.

Now, about the level itself. It's hard (no duh). But I also tried to make it so nothing felt unreasonable or super frustrating. There are some jumps that are harder than others, but no jump felt like a huge choke point that was endlessly killing my runs. In that sense, I think the level is fairly approachable for how hard it is, and it can get somewhat consistent if you put in a lot of practice. It's possible to get good at all parts of this level with enough time, and then it just comes down to getting it all in one run and then hitting the nai. The nai of Stasis is probably evil level design. But I had to make an exception for this idea since it felt so climactic, and I knew the satisfaction of pulling it off would make the torment it would cause worth it.

I got to the nai for the first time after 29 hours of practicing and playing the level. It was definitely a crushing feeling to know that we were right there, just one mistimed jump away from beating my hardest level by far. Just getting to the nai might be harder than any other level I've cleared, and I knew it would likely be a long time before I made it there again. I was getting a lot better at the level though, and dying to the very end is as good of an indicator of progress that you could have. I died to the nai 2 more times over the next few days, but I was getting to the third section much more often. 41 hours in, I made it to the mountain for a fourth time, and it was finally over.

Nope! I was doing reupload attempts literally the very next day, because I'm a stupid idiot who can't find cheese in my levels. Granted, it was very small cheese, all you could do was skip the last two recatches in the first section, and the skips weren't free, either. Since this was "my big level" though, I felt that I needed to go and fix it. I decided to play it offstream so I didn't feel like there was any added pressure, and I could just listen to various YouTube videos. I was upset at first, but I didn't mind playing the level more because I was still improving at it, and reaching a consistency that I didn't think I would ever achieve. Over my 16 hours of playtime for the reupload, I made it to section 3 a total of 65 times. That's more than double my 31 attempts there in the 41 hours it took to beat it the first time. It gave me confidence that if Stasis can get this consistent, I have the potential to beat even harder levels with enough practice. I was way less clutch the second time around, though, as I died to the nai 6 times, which is why I had so many attempts to section 3. I felt like I had around 40% consistency on the nai, so 6 deaths was really unfortunate.

Overall, I'm really proud of how this level turned out, and I hope that anyone who does play it finds it fun. Huge thanks to everyone in the SMM2 community who I have met! You all have been so supportive of me, and I really appreciate the encouragement to get better and to persevere with the level grinds.

Have a great day, and thanks for reading! Follow your dreams.

Level code: W72-HX9-5WF
I also made three practice levels for this, one for each section, so people don't need to rebuild it to try parts.
