PyRS: Data Processing Software for Engineering Neutron Diffraction |SciPy 2020| Zhou

Описание к видео PyRS: Data Processing Software for Engineering Neutron Diffraction |SciPy 2020| Zhou

The High Intensity Diffractometer for Residual stress Analysis (HiDRA) engineering neutron diffractometer at the Hight Flux Isotope Reactor of Oak Ridge National Laboratory supports studies in material science and engineering. Specifically, it supports these investigations by mapping the residual stress from in-depth bulk measurements of large-scale engineering components, such as engine blocks or chunks of metal. Users on this instrument need robust and fast data reduction software integrated with full-featured graphical user interfaces to reduce, analyze and visualize the experimental data. The Research Software Engineering Group has developed a new python code, PyRS, that uses numpy, h5py, and Mantid to perform these tasks quickly, accurately, and with minimal memory usage. PyRS can create historgrams from raw neutron scattering events measured by millions of detector pixels from various sample points and under a changing sample environment, fit Bragg peaks accurately and robustly, and calculate texture, strain and stress accordingly. The combination of PyQt and matplotlib provides PyRS with advanced interactive visualization capabilities. This talk will describe this project in detail and provide a demonstration for attendees.
