The Steak Dinner Boulder is the cornerstone of SW Oklahoma bouldering. It houses the long standing area classic, friction and edging test piece, Steak Dinner. The first ascent was awarded a Steak Dinner over at the Old Plantation House in Medicine Park. Our very first guidebook printed in 1980 listed these problems and graded them in a unique hybrid B/YDS scale.

Rat Crack V2 - the first problem climbed on this boulder by Bill Thomas, sometime in or before 1978. Inviting but committing to do with a boulder in the landing and without modern pads.

Little Steak V3 - a newer documented and obvious line. Good fun! Had to use few power screams on the flash.

IF V3 - beautiful arete with perfect crimps! Very doable with my height. I felt like the “if” hold wasn’t that far away at all. Landing looks badish.

Au Jus V3 - I came up with a name! This line seems too obvious to have not been done. But the landing is highly uninspiring, especially in padless times.

The Hole V3 - this highly aesthetic line has never been given proper credit. Unique holds, mammoth rub, bright yellow lichen, and a shorter fall make this super appealing. Unfortunately the holds feel awful in my hands and that’s where it’s lost stars.

Gorilla Arm Traverse V0 - seems silly, because it is. But wow it’s a really good warm up! You could totally get flash pumped on this thing.

Steak Dinner V5 - mildly documenting my journey on it. With a high point on this session, I may be close to getting a meal! Anyone know how to contact Bill Thomas?
