Charles Manson - Home is where you're happy (tribute cover)

I'm a bit late on the upload however on 19th of November, is marked the day of death of one of the greatest cultural icons of American history. His life fraught with controversy, lies, truths, spent behind bars nearly all of it, and his creative and soulful music and songwriting.

A man who spoke more in hyperbole and metaphor, using a heavily symbolic language and understanding of the world. Because he never had any formal education. An intuitive self taught street education rather than a schooled one - that would limit the mind, as he often had said.

Some claim he was a horrible mind controlling murderer, some say he used violence personally, some say he told others to kill. We know he wasn't at the crime scene for which he was accused. We don't know exactly every detail of the happenings of those times and probably never will. We don't know what the prosecutors invented to get the press off their backs. How much other interests were involved. Or how much Charles was indeed telling the truth about it all. He always said he never got a fair trial and that the press dictated his trial in front of the entire nation.

His behavior was not that of an innocent man but not that of a guilty one either. And if he was insane, he believed in his insanity and was articulate enough to share that with the world.

But one thing is certain, he cared about other things than killing people. He cared about air trees water and animals - ATWA. And making music, for himself and for the right people to understand and relate to.

Charles Manson was nothing if not a larger than life character. And he was also nobody - a tramp, a bum, a hobo. A boxcar and a jug of wine, and a straight razor... if you get too close to him.

Its not perfect, but neither was Charlie's vision for the original nor for music in general.
