I tell people all the time that Charlie is not a house pet. In my humble opinion NO fox is a house pet unless you are willing to give them a section of the house, or just be okay with them destroying everything. Foxes aren't destructive all the time but they are very possessive and territorial. And they do really like destroying things. In this video we will see a fake set up just for Charlie. I set it up in my very own back yard. Now, before you start giving Charlie excuses like "well its HIS yard so of course he's going to play!" no, just stop it. This is the exact thing he has done every single time he snuck into my house. The first thing he does is start peeing and pooping on everything. This is a foxes way of claiming it as their own. Then they go to work on clawing, digging, ripping, breaking and so on. He has managed to get inside (without me even noticing) on a number of occasions. He immediately steels my stuff and then starts attacking me as if its his right to defend his new found territory. So the best thing is to establish boundary's with your pet fox. Make sure they are aware of where they can go and where they can't And stick to that. Because they will take advantage if you don't. And just understand, just because you give them the toy or the fun thing, doesn't mean they comprehend that. To charlie, everything he has is stolen and therefore "earned". Which means if I give him a toy and then approach him, he will often try to attack me. So for the first day with a new toy I usually just leave him alone and keep my distance. Then its usually good to go play with it and him. Foxes are just weird like that. i was hoping for a little more destruction but here you go.
