The present patent pending technology GB 141463.2 and GB 1501243.8 is enhancement of well-known DOHS technology: WO/2005/123232 of cleaning Reverse Osmosis membranes used in heavy fouling condition. Technology based on applying series of water hammers, made simultaneously with forward osmosis backward flow causing superposed membrane mechanical shaking and fouling osmotic backwash. Water hammers provided by water stroke generators controlled by PLC during additional discharge of brine and/or permeate flow. Process similar to home carpet shaking, but made in higher frequency and lower amplitude, preferably in frequency proportional to the natural frequency of the RO membrane oscillation. PLC smoothly tunes the pulsating frequency until an abrupt increase in turbidity of the residual brine stream is visible. Operation in resonance frequency allows by minimum gauge pressure amplitude reach maximum cleaning effect in safety way.
High Salinity draw solution injection, simultaneously with water hammers shaking, provides ecologically friendly fouling detachment and removal.
