'Simmon Tree - Gettin' Rowdy on the Hillside

Описание к видео 'Simmon Tree - Gettin' Rowdy on the Hillside

This is an improvised tune that I played after playing "Goin' Across the Mountain" one day while hiking around the Wasatch Mountains. Very different than the hills I grew up on in Virginia/West Virginia... I'll post "Goin' Across the Mountain" some other time.

Anyway, I ended up liking it I guess haha. It's just got two verses, which are called "floating verses" which appear in many old-time tunes and float, so to speak from song to song. Where I grew up there were native persimmon trees, especially by the river and in the fall/winter you really could just shake 'em down.

"Wish I was a 'simmon tree, planted in the ground.
Everytime you walk on by, ya shake a 'simmon down.

Wish I had a big fine horse and corn to feed 'em on.
Pretty little lady to stay at home, feed 'em when I'm gone."

Hope yall enjoy it; it was a steep climb to get up there!
