To the outside world, Brian Hart had it all – two loving step kids in college, a thriving law practice, an attractive wife, good friends, and excellent health. What more could a man want? In truth, he was dying a slow death inside.

In his wife’s desperate effort to find herself, he had become the enemy. In her mind, he was completely and irreversibly irrelevant. Her open contempt for him only fuels his own ever-growing sense of inadequacy. He rejects the advice of others to divorce her because he fears for the possible psychological strain on the kids that he loves.

He concludes that disappearing is the only viable option for him. He struggles to come up with a plan, yet an unexpected disaster affords him the perfect opportunity.

His new life is complicated by guilt and he finds the transition is difficult. Brian is threatened by exposure, charges of bigamy, fraud and even murder, and a new relationship with a woman he loves is severely compromised as a result.
