This location ended up really surprising us!
Our family has a love-hate affair with sand dunes....they sound like a good idea, and they are beautiful...but usually are somewhat painful to deal with!

Sleeping bear dunes ended up being great, as we hit it in late May before it got hot and crowded. This location offers amazing views of the dunes, and lake Michigan just beyond. Honestly, some of the most beautiful views I have seen!

To compliment this area, you have the town of Glen Arbor. A nice small town, with great restaurants and comfy places to stay.
We hit Boondocks and Cherry Republic. Both offered great food!
There are even rental bicycles and kayaks available for an increased adventure.
