Mastering Dynamics: Part 1

Описание к видео Mastering Dynamics: Part 1

Can you create a full, consistent sound from frog to tip without losing sound or dynamics? The most important thing is the contact point. Remember, more pressure does not mean more sound – overpressing can complicate things.

1. Grand Détaché
Aim for a big sound while maintaining bow speed, without getting stuck. This exercise forces you to be precise with upper arm motions. It’s fast and challenging but prepares you to work on dynamics. Think of bow movements as left and right, not up and down.

2. Developing Piano
Work on a controlled piano sound with good weight distribution. Adjust the shape of your forearm as you play, allowing the bow to tilt naturally. The bow should feel light, almost suspended in the air, with a gentle contact point involving the pinky, index, and thumb. Create a core sound while maintaining friction with the string.

3. Son Filé - Long, Drawn-out Tones
Practice drawing the bow very slowly, letting your wrist hang naturally. Focus on using your upper arm with minimal tension, starting with 30-second strokes and working up to 1 minute. Regularly check for tightness in your arm and shoulder, aiming for looseness and sensitivity to the string. This exercise helps you control dynamics and develop finger responsiveness.

Thank you for watching! I hope you found these exercises helpful for developing your dynamic control and sound production. Remember, consistent practice is key.
