In this episode I provide the history of the Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon, the first front-wheel-drive subcompact offering from any American automaker when it launched in 1978. Their L-body platform also was the basis for the 024 and TC3 sport coupes, later renamed Charger and Turismo, and El Camino-like pickups called the Rampage and Scamp. The original Omni and Horizon played a major role in helping secure the government loans Chrysler needed to stay solvent.
