ARTIST NOTES: This particular portrait was unique in that the necklace, earrings, and hair pins are PASTED onto the portrait, rather than painted, which is an interesting detail for these types of works. This may also explain why the earrings do not match, as one ear lost the "grapes" motif from its foundation while the other remained intact.

The odd brownish-black substance smearing the portrait could be resin of some sort, though its haphazard distribution seems to indicate the damage was not intentional.

Overall, I felt the original artist captured the spirit of the subject’s appearance with the professional attention to the shape of the eyes, ears, nose, mouth, and even the cleft in her chin. All that was left to make the image seem more true to life was to balance and align the features of the face for a more natural version of her existing features.

**I have no idea what the odd dangling black strands were that were painted to hang from the collar of her tunic, but whichever ones I could identify, I left in, just in case they were important or symbolic in some way.
