I have been doing a lot of thinking about the FIRE Movement UK. I decided to challenge them and in today's video I want to let you in on the conversation that followed.

So FIRE stands for Financial Independence Retire Early. It’s a lifestyle movement with the goal of gaining financial independence and retiring early.

Now when I say I confronted them it wasn’t to challenge the 4% rule and the trinity study which are some of concepts discussed by them. The idea of FIRE itself it pretty simple and at it’s core is a simple maths exercise, working out how much money you need to make it a reality. It’s not easy, but it is simple.

What I have been challenging is the whole overall concept on what drives people to follow this mantra of financial independence retire early. I’m a member of some different FIRE based communities as I sort of have one foot in this camp and find the thought process interesting.
