This session will spotlight developments and applications of 3D media being shared and explored in the two IIIF 3D groups - the Community Group (CG) and the Technical Specification Group (TSG). The CG is an open space for 3D beginners and veterans alike to review solutions and discuss significant international projects, tools and contacts with other 3D researchers and developer communities, which regularly showcase creative and innovative uses of 3D.

The TSG is working on solutions to standardise and enable interoperable 3D, with key developers and specialists from international user communities and standards bodies. Learn more about the challenges, progress and late-evolving plans for bringing IIIF into the 3rd dimension, with opportunities for better data sharing across collections and institutions, helping overcome barriers for sustainable sharing. In this session, participants can engage with some of the 3D materials which have been presented, review work-in-progress for Presentation API 4.0, and can sample some of the viewer 'sandboxes' where the TSG is working on late drafts of 3D manifests. If interested, you also can try out some ways of storytelling and interacting by combining 3D with 2D and/or A/V.
