GXUK Senior Karting – Clay Pigeon Race Day (Heat Results: 10, DNF, 6 | Final: P18)
Welcome back to another round of the GXUK Senior Karting Championship! This time the series headed to the legendary Clay Pigeon Raceway, one of the most iconic karting tracks in the UK. Known for its fast straights, sweeping corners, and rich history in motorsport, Clay Pigeon has tested some of the very best – including the likes of Formula 1 drivers who cut their teeth here before moving onto bigger stages.
This race weekend was all about resilience, pace, and adapting to tough conditions. My day started with three heats:
• Heat 1: A solid drive finishing P10. Not the perfect start, but a strong foundation and some valuable points to build on.
• Heat 2: Unfortunately, I had to chalk this one up as a DNF. Whether it’s contact, a mechanical issue, or just bad luck, these setbacks are part of racing. It’s frustrating, but that’s motorsport – you’ve got to bounce back.
• Heat 3: Determined to make up ground, I put in a much stronger performance, working my way through to P6. This was my highlight of the heats, showing the speed was there when everything clicked.
With the heats complete, it was onto the A Final, where the field is stacked with the fastest drivers of the day. Starting further back than I’d hoped, I knew it would be a challenge to break into the sharp end of the grid. The race itself was tough – elbows out, close battles, and no easy overtakes. After a hard-fought drive, I crossed the line in P18. Not the result I was aiming for, but every lap at Clay Pigeon teaches you something new, and racing against such a competitive field always raises your game.

Reflections on the Weekend
Karting is never just about results on paper – it’s about the battles, the learning curve, and the moments that push you as a driver. While the DNF stung, the pace I found in Heat 3 was a real positive. The final didn’t go to plan, but finishing P18 in a packed field at Clay is still a valuable experience. Racing at this level is a reminder that motorsport is as much about persistence as it is about performance.

What’s Next?
The GXUK Championship is far from over, and I’ll be back in the next round fighting to climb higher up the order. Each event is a chance to build on what I’ve learned, refine my racecraft, and hopefully bring home stronger results. Clay Pigeon might not have given me the finishes I wanted, but it’s added another chapter to my karting journey – and I can’t wait to see what the next race brings.
