A show down is looming between parliament and the executive with MP's threatening to shoot down the VAT bill in retaliation to the President's refusal to assent to the Finance bill that would have seen them receive a gratuity allowance of up to Ksh 9m each. Wajir West MP Adan Keynan accused the executive of playing politics insisting that the President and Finance Minister were in the loop on the proposed increment before it was approved by parliament. A claim rubbished by transport minister Amos Kimunya. The MPs also trained their guns at the chair of the constitution implementation commission Charles Nyachae who has been vocal in opposing the increment, even as they vowed not to be cowered in pushing for the increment.
