Socioeconomic disparities in cardiotoxicity in early-stage breast cancer

Описание к видео Socioeconomic disparities in cardiotoxicity in early-stage breast cancer

Karissa Britten, MD, University of California, Los Angeles, CA, discusses the analysis of socioeconomic factors affecting the risk of congestive heart failure (CHF) in patients with early-stage breast cancer treated with trastuzumab and/or anthracyclines. Using SEER-Medicare data, the study reveals that Black, and Native American patients and those in low per capita income areas had a significantly higher risk of CHF. The findings highlight the need for strategies addressing social determinants and risk factor modification to reduce disparities in cardiac outcomes. This interview took place at the 2024 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS) congress in San Antonio, TX.
