Josquin des Prez (c. 1450-1521): Nymphes des Bois, a.k.a. La Déploration de Johannes Ockeghem

This piece was written in 1497 by one of the great composers of the Renaissance era, Josquin, to mourn the death of another equally great composer who preceded him: Johannes Ockeghem. A profound, wistful, and emotive work, I was immediately drawn to it when I first encountered it in my introductory music history course at NEC. The original piece is written for five voices, and I was able to play them all in their original octaves.
