We can add a custom Quick Setting Tiles to Android that will let us play, pause, and skip tracks to media we're playing.

The Quick Settings panel on Android houses dozens of little shortcuts for things like toggling WiFi or Bluetooth, triggering the screen record feature, or just using the LED Flash as a little light.

But Android does not have media playback buttons here.
At least not by default.

So today, I can show you a free and open source application that will let you add a play/pause button, a skip forward button, or a previous track button. . .or all three.

QuickTiles on F-Droid
The application in question is called QuickTiles, and it can be downloaded directly from F-Droid.
I'll even have this page linked down below, so that it's easy for everyone to find.

It's rather small in size, less than 7MB total
With most of that space being taken up by the icons themselves.

Once installed, go ahead and launch the app
And right off the bat, you're going to be greeted with over 50 different Quick Settings tiles to choose from.

All of them will be disabled by default, so you're able to go in and only toggle the tiles that you actually want to use.
I really love that about this application.

So today, we're focusing on Media Control buttons
Which are conveniently placed right at the top.

Tap on the toggle for the tiles you want to add and you're almost done.
I say almost. . .because you actually have to add the custom tiles to the Quick Settings panel

And we do that by expanding hte full quick settings panel
and then looking for the edit button. . .or pencil icon.

You should be able to find your media playback buttons here.
And we can add them to any row of the Quick Settings panel that we want.

So when you're done, and you're playing some music on your Android device. . .
Maybe you're using it to watch a video

You can now control that media player directly through the custom quick settings tiles that we just added.
