Metal Detecting a Roman Scattered Coin Hoard UK (335 coins found) with the Equinox 600 PART 1

This is part 1 of finding a Roman scattered coin hoard. Follow our journey of finding the first coins and realising we had come across a scattered hoard. We found a total of 335 coins and this shows us finding one after another.

We are using the Minelab Equinox 600 and have the Coiltek 10x5 coil in addition which is perfect for hunting out the smaller targets.

Our coin hoard has now been entered in to the UK Treasure Act via the Finds Liaison Officer at the Gloucester Museum. The FLO was contacted when we found around 8 coins, one after another, in one small area of the field and was consulted throughout the process of finding them and advice taken on what to do.

Watch out for part 2 where we find more and more coins plus other Roman artefacts, including a 3rd Century AD silver Roman ring.
