This video introduces the concept of the sampling distribution of a statistic, specifically the sampling distribution of the mean. It shows empirically what these distributions looks like for populations of data which are normally distributed and for populations of data generated by throwing fair dice (which have a discrete uniform distribution in the population) . This leads on to related concepts such as the standard error of the mean and the central limit theorem as the bedrock of null hypothesis significance testing.

NB In this video (part 2) I talk briefly about confidence limits using a common way in which they are described. This approach, though widespread, is arguably misleading. Please watch for a future video on the fallacies of confidence limits.
