Welcome to Pai ooking.
Very tasty sidedish recipe prepared in most GSB community households, served with rice/dosa/idli as a sidedish. Spicy yet tasty at the same time, this homemade instant bittergourd pickle is mouthwatering(called Karathe Kootu in Konkani)
Let's read the ingredients:
Bittergourd/karathe/Hagalakai - 2 medium sized(washed & chopped, add salt & rest for 30 mins.)
In a pan,
Oil - 1/2Tbsp
Coriander seeds - 1Tbsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2Tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1/4Tsp
Ramnad Chilly/Short red chillies - 3 to 4
Byadgi Chilly/Lond red chillies - 4 to 5
Grated coconut - a fistful
Hing/Asafoetida - a pinch
Turmeric powder - 1/4tsp
Tamarind - small piece
Salt to taste
Water to grind
Oil to fry
