Putting Temu necklaces inside a CT scanner wasn't on my 2024 bingo card but here we are! The inspiration was a viral Tiktok where a girl claimed Temu sent her a smelly, decomposing animal tooth instead of a resin pendant. The product in question is actually extreme popular, with one store showing 84K sales!! We ended up doing CT scans and x-rays, with the latter producing much better results. For anyone curious about the costs, you don't need any involvement from insurance to take xrays or CTs. As long as you have the machine you can take as many pictures as you like and we did it during off-peak time so no treatments were affected by the filming.

The funniest part is that all of these necklaces have the most amazing reviews. People are raving about dead dog teeth and I don't even want to imagine how many have had up close skin contact with the pendant. EDIT: Based on a lot of viewer comments, many people speculate it could also be fox teeth. Fox canines look almost identical to dogs and they are bred in large numbers for the fur industry. I originally assumed the teeth came from pet crematoriums, but some knowledgeable viewers have mentioned it's virtually impossible to source such huge numbers of teeth ethically. There are only four teeth per skull in this shape and some may not even be in a usable form or stay intact during extraction.
