The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) sent out three warriors: his uncle Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib (RA), his cousin Ali ibn Abi Talib (RA) (referred to as the "Sword of Allah"), and Ubaydah ibn al-Harith (RA) to face the Quraysh champions.

In the ensuing duel:

Hamza killed Shaybah.
Ali killed Walid.
Ubaydah and Utbah faced off, both wounding each other. Eventually, Hamza and Ali intervened to kill Utbah and save Ubaydah, though Ubaydah later succumbed to his wounds.

Utbah’s death symbolized the downfall of the Quraysh leadership. His demise, along with other Meccan nobles at Badr, weakened the Quraysh's position, causing demoralization among their ranks.
