We embarked on an eight-hour journey from Southampton to Scotland to fish in the two-day Tope Open at the Clashwhannon Holiday Park and Restaurant and Restaurant in Stranraer, amidst the fish-rich waters of the Mull of Galloway. What a magical place the Clash is, but it’s the people who truly make it special.

Fishing competitions are all about the camaraderie, the new friendships, and the unwavering support we’ve received over the past few days. The accommodation, food, and atmosphere have been outstanding, and the warmth of the community here is unparalleled. This was our second time at the Clash, and it definitely won’t be our last. Huge thanks to the guys driving the tractors for the amazing job with the tractor launches from the sandy beach. Your hard work does not go unnoticed!

The competition was fierce, with the biggest Tope over two days winning, and other prizes for the biggest Bullhuss and Ray. On Day One, we headed out deep and experienced a pack attack of Tope on every drop. The fishing was phenomenal, but slowed down as the tide stopped flooding. We finished Day One in 11th place out of 30 boats, and we couldn’t have been happier with our performance.

Day Two started a bit late as the organizers waited for the wind to drop. Once launched, we returned to our Day One spot, but it was very quiet. Just as we were considering moving, one of our reels screamed off—fish on! This fish was a fighter, swimming across to other lines and creating chaos. As we got it to the surface, disaster struck when one line was cut. But miraculously, the fish was still on. We managed to land a massive 170cm long Tope—the biggest male fish we had ever seen!

With the leaderboard shut down on the Angling LIVE app, we knew we were in first place at midday, but was it enough? After the boats were successfully retrieved, we headed back to the restaurant for the prize giving. We had only gone and won the competition! Luke’s fish was the biggest of the two days. This was Team Squidward’s first competition win!

We’ve had an amazing time in Scotland, a truly special place with wonderful people who made us feel so welcome. A massive shout-out to our incredible sponsors who help us fulfill our passion for this sport we love. Special thanks to Will Parkinson for all your help and support, and to David Lonnie for organizing such a fantastic event. You should be very proud of what you are building.

To everyone who took part and to those who supported us—thank you. The sense of community and shared passion for fishing is what makes these events unforgettable. Tight lines, and thanks for making us feel so welcome!

🏆🎣 Until next time, Scotland! 🎣🏆
