This is the story of a woman named Ḥannah — a kind and faithful woman who lived a long, long time ago in the land of Yisra’el.

Ḥannah loved Yah with all her heart. She prayed to Him every day. But there was one thing she longed for more than anything… a baby of her own.

Every year, Ḥannah and her husband would travel to a special place called Shiloh, where the people of Yisra’el came to worship Yah. There, they would bring offerings and pray.

But Ḥannah’s heart was heavy. While other women had children and laughter around them, Ḥannah was still waiting. People didn’t always understand her sadness. Some even teased her. But she didn’t get angry — she went straight to Yah.

One day, while everyone else was feasting, Ḥannah slipped away quietly. She went to the temple and knelt down.

Her lips moved, but no sound came out. Her heart was speaking to Yah. She cried and prayed, saying:

“Yah, if You see me and remember me, and give me a son, I will give him back to You. He will serve You all his life.”

A priest named Eli saw her and thought something was wrong. But Ḥannah gently said, “I’m not upset with people — I’m pouring out my heart to Yah.”

Eli listened and then told her, “Go in peace. May Yah give you what you asked for.”

And you know what?

Ḥannah believed. She stood up, wiped her tears, and went home with joy in her heart.

In time, Yah answered her prayer. Ḥannah had a baby boy, and she named him Sh’mu’el, which means “Yah has heard.”

She loved Sh’mu’el with all her heart. And when he was still a little boy, she did just what she promised: she brought him to the temple so he could serve Yah all his life.

And Ḥannah didn’t stop there — she sang a beautiful prayer of praise to Yah. She said:

“My heart rejoices in Yah!
There is no one like Him.
He lifts up the lowly,
He gives strength to the weak,
He fills the hungry with good things,
And He makes the barren woman a joyful mother of children.”

Yah blessed Ḥannah even more — and she had more sons and daughters.

Ḥannah’s story reminds us:
Yah hears our prayers.
He sees us.
He answers in love.
And He can do amazing things through anyone who trusts Him.
