We continue our trip along the Pacific coast of New Zealand's South Island. In this section we leave Lake Grassmere and head for Kaikoura, passing pleasant rolling hills before skirting the Pacific Coastline, at times the sea seems to come right up to the train. We thread our way through a succession of tunnels, never far from the rocky coastline and empty beaches on one side and the Kaikoura mountain range on the other.
