Edison Steam Engine, Greenfield Village

Описание к видео Edison Steam Engine, Greenfield Village

One lap of Greenfield Village on a train pulled by one of their two steam locomotives.

I love Greenfield Village; I've been coming back since 1983. It's Walt Disney World for history buffs. You can see once necessary but now forgotten jobs (blacksmith, glassblowing, chinamaking) performed exactly as they were a century and a half ago.

That baseball game toward the middle is a recreation of a late 19th century matchup, using the types of uniforms and equipment they'd have had back then (no gloves, thank you very much) and a real brass band in place of piped-in music.

When you come, give yourself a full day to tour Greenfield Village (stay till they kick you out), and another full day for the adjacent Henry Ford Museum (ditto). If you run out of time, like I did this year, don't worry; unused tickets are good for one year from date of purchase.

See you in Dearborn!
