Moldova To Arrest Pro-Russia Governor After Putin Meeting, Aide Says As Chisinau Cements France Ties

Moldova is planning to arrest the head of the autonomous region of Gagauzia, Yevgenia Gutsul, after her return from Russia. This claim was made by opposition politician and fugitive pro-Russian businessman Ilan Shor with whom Gutsul has close ties.
"We have insider information that they are preparing to arrest Yevgenia Gutsul right at the airport," Shor said, according to Sputnik.
Gutul has been in Russia since last week, when she asked the head of parliament’s upper house for support for her region.
The pro-Russian leader told Putin that the country’s central authorities were systematically crushing her region’s political and economic rights
Putin, she said, "promised to extend support to Gagauzia and the Gagauz people in upholding our legal rights, our authority and positions in the international arena".
