Condenser tribute to Wire's 'Pink Flag' album at Moon, Newtown, Wellington, NZ 17/8/24 post-punk

The English band Wire released their debut album 'Pink Flag' in December 1977, during the UK punk era. The band was already somewhat apart from the main wave of punk bands (Pistols, Clash, et al) and Pink Flag came to mark the start of post-punk and was very influential on that movement, hardcore and other genres that followed.
Condenser: 'We were already playing three songs from Pink Flag in our covers set and we're all Wire fans, so earlier this year when one of us suggested we learn to play the whole of Pink Flag the other two quickly agreed. This is the first time we've played the album tribute in an established venue, after a test run at a party in late June.'
Condenser is a post-punk band in Wellington, NZ, formed in 2019 by Nigel Elder and James Gilberd, who were both in the Wellington bands Condemned Sector (1980-81) and Neoteric Tribesmen (1981-84). Wire was a major influence on both bands' original material at the time. Condenser cover their own original material from 1980-84 as well as a range of music by punk and post-punk bands from the mid-70s to early 80s.
Peter Stitt joined the band on bass & vocals in 2023 when Taylar Mallo prepared to depart NZ.
