I Try to Crack LUSH’s SECRET BATH BOMB FORMULA!

Описание к видео I Try to Crack LUSH’s SECRET BATH BOMB FORMULA!

I've never made a bath bomb in my life, so why did I think recreating LUSH's most popular bath bomb would be a good idea?

To start, I needed to ground myself. I watched a ton of bath bomb tutorials, I conducted bath bomb experiments, and I attempted to perfect the craft so I would be comfortable enough to tackle the great task: recreate LUSH's Intergalactic bath bomb.

And I wanted my copycat recipe to be pretty exact! So I deconstructed LUSH's ingredients list for Intergalactic and went to work obtaining ingredients and trying to find a way to engineer a recipe that was accurate.

But could I ever make it a reality?

I get all of my soap micas and colourants from Voyageur Soap and Candle, which is a soap and candle supply shop based in Vancouver.

____________🌌Intergalactic Copycat Recipe🌌____________
These quantities will yield four 2" diameter bath bombs!

❄️ Snowball Insert:
Dry:
• 30g Baking Soda
• 20g Citric Acid
• 7g Popping Candy (preferably white)
Wet:
• 1/2 tsp Super Sparkle Diamonds Mica (or any sparkly white mica that contains fluorophlogopite)
• 1 1/2 ml water
• 1 ml fragrance (I used half Peppermint and half Bamboo Cypress, by Voyageur Soap and Candle and Wholesale Supplies Plus respectively)
• 1/2 ml Polysorbate 80

🔵 Blue Layer:
Dry:
• 165g Baking Soda
• 100g Citric Acid
• 5g Cream of Tartar
• 5g Cornstarch
Wet:
• 1 tsp Super Sparkle Gold Mica
• 6ml Fragrance (4ml Peppermint, 2ml Bamboo Cypress)
• 5ml Water
• 3ml Polysorbate 80
• 3ml (50 drops) Liquid Blue Dye (if you can find Blue 1 diluted 1% in cornstarch or some other carrier, use 2 tsp of that)

🟡🔴 Yellow/Pink Layers:
Dry:
• 83g Baking Soda
• 50g Citric Acid
• 3g Cream of Tartar
• 3g Cornstarch
• 1/16 tsp Superfine SLSA (if you have a coarse grind, triple this)
• 1 1/2 tsp Neon Yellow / Neon Pink Colourants
Wet:
• 3ml Fragrance (2ml Peppermint, 1ml Bamboo Cypress)
• 3ml Polysorbate 80
• 2ml Water

Sift the dries together and whisk so everything is incorporated. Prepare the liquids and mix well - the Polysorbate 80 will interact with the water and become viscous, so it's better if you use a milk frother like I used.

Combine the wet with the dry slowly, first with the whisk and once it's evenly distributed, with your hands. It should feel slightly cold to the touch and barely damp. If it's too dry and won't stay together when you squeeze it, add a bit more water and Poly 80 a few drops at a time. If it's sticking to your hands and cold to the touch, sprinkle a small amount of cornstarch or baking soda and incorporate. Wait a few minutes before adding more, as it takes a while for the powder to absorb the liquid.

Using your bath bomb hemisphere, sprinkle a little blue, then a little pink, then a little yellow, then press gently and place the insert. Sprinkle more blue on top and repeat for the other hemisphere but without the insert. Press together and gently unmold. If the bath bomb doesn't release, give the mold a few gentle taps with a metal spoon.

Set aside on a plate for at least a day before handling. Ideally, let harden for a week before gifting or using. Enjoy!
