Sun Wukong, also known as the Monkey King, is a prominent character in Chinese mythology. He is best known for his appearance in the 16th-century Chinese novel "Journey to the West" and has since become a beloved figure in Chinese folklore and popular culture.

According to the myth, Sun Wukong was born from a stone on the Flowers and Fruit Mountain. He possessed incredible strength, agility, and magical abilities. As a mischievous and rebellious monkey, he acquired supernatural powers through Taoist practices, making him virtually invincible.

Sun Wukong's most notable feat is his rebellion against heaven. He challenges the gods and even defeats powerful deities, causing chaos and disrupting the celestial order. However, he eventually faces consequences for his actions and is captured by the Buddha. After being imprisoned for five hundred years, he is eventually released and becomes a loyal protector of Xuanzang on their continued journey.
