In the example he provides, clicking on the task list, which shows all scheduled activities, revealed a significant number of old activities that hadn't been cleared. The client in question had been using Act CRM since 2005 and had accumulated around 29,000 activities.

To resolve the issue, Tony demonstrated how to efficiently clear out old activities from Act CRM. By selecting multiple activities at once using the shift key and right-clicking, users can mark them as completed, not completed, or erase them entirely. For this particular client, they decided to erase activities that were older than a few years as they were no longer needed. This action significantly improved the software’s performance by reducing the load on the system during startup and when accessing different parts of the application.

This case highlights the importance of regular maintenance of CRM databases to ensure optimal performance and functionality. It also shows that not all performance issues are due to hardware limitations; sometimes, they are caused by the way the software is used and managed over time.
