Whilst mucking around on a newly created private server (no mods), we stumbled across this glitch which allows players to duplicate corpses and, by extension, the items the corpses are carrying.

To perform the glitch, put whatever items are to be duplicated into a corpse, then pick up the corpse. You should then attempt to jump over a high fence (it does not matter if this succeeds or you drop). Two or more corpses will then be dropped, both/all carrying the same items.

It appears that the player cannot carry both of the items as they merge into one. However, if you are playing with friends, each player can pick up an item.
