SHAME - European Stories

From Italy to Sweden, from Romania to Portugal: Portraits of nearly 100 victims of child abuse have been collected throughout Europe. Never has the dimension of the problem been captured in this way. Photos and videos for the project «SHAME – European Stories» from award-winning journalist Simone Padovani documenting the injustices now give the victims a voice. To this day, these victims suffer from the abuse that was done to them in the past. In a few countries in Europe, efforts have been made to redress their suffering. In most countries, a serious confrontation with the abuse has not taken place. To adress these injustives, the Justice Initiative was launched in Switzerland by groups of victims, academics and NGOs from all over Europe as a joint political initiative. The Justice Initiative has initiated and supports political campaigns to change legislation in several different countries in Europe. It also seeks to restore justice and provide better child protection on the level of the European Union. Find out more on https://justice-initiative.eu/
