Sources of Power:

States with formidable armed forces possess the ability to project force, defend their interests, and shape the outcomes of conflicts. Nuclear capabilities also play a crucial role in defining a state's military power, as they act as a deterrent against potential adversaries.
ii. Economic Power: Economic strength is another vital aspect of power. States with robust economies have the means to invest in technology, infrastructure, and development projects. Economic power allows countries to exert influence through trade, aid, and sanctions, impacting the prosperity of other nations.
iii. Political Power: Political power refers to a state's ability to mobilize resources, build alliances, and navigate international institutions to advance its interests. A politically influential state can shape the decision-making processes and agendas of global forums.
iv. Cultural Power: Cultural power, often referred to as soft power, is the ability of a nation to influence others through its culture, values, and ideas rather than coercive or military means. Realists argue that states are primary actors, and their main goal is to survive and maintain security. Power Transition Theory:
This theory focuses on the shifting power dynamics between rising and declining great powers. When a rising power challenges the dominance of an established power, tensions can escalate, potentially leading to conflict. The so-called "Thucydides Trap" is an example of this concept, drawing from the ancient Greek historian's observation that fear of a rising Athens was a contributing factor to the outbreak of the Peloponnesian War.
