The Ramones - Unlike most debut albums, the Ramones first LP sees the band's signature sound, look and attitude already firmly in place. The Joey-penned Beat On The Brat and Judy Is A Punk are perhaps the most perfect statements of the Ramones aesthetic, while Dee Dee was already proving to be their most prolific songwriter, churning out well over half the LP's tracks. Leave Home - No sophomore slump here, this album is all killer no filler, featuring live show staples Gimme Gimme Shock Treatment, Pinhead and Commando. This album hits harder than their debut, no small feat, with sweeter moments such as Oh Oh I Love Her So sitting alongside Glad To See You Go and You're Gonna Kill That Girl. Rocket To Russia - The LP that was supposed to take the Ramones over the top, a confluence of events beyond the band's control ruined things. One of the better sounding Ramones albums, their second LP of 1977 offers several fan favorites including Cretin Hop, Rockaway Beach, Teenage Lobotomy, We're A Happy Family and, of course, Sheena Is A Punk Rocker. Deep cut: Here Today, Gone Tomorrow https://amzn.to/2WpclRK

Road To Ruin - Their first overt attempt at mass acceptance, this LP saw Marky Ramone take over on the drum kit. Produced by Tommy Ramone (w/babysitter Ed Stasium), this is a great sounding album, with heavy songs like I Just Want To Have Something To Do and I'm Against It meshing well with lighter tracks such as Don't Come Close and Questioningly. The "hit," if there is one, was I Wanna Be Sedated, but these days I'd rather hear She's The One. Deep cut: Bad Brain https://amzn.to/3c6oaTd

End Of The Century - Phil Spector is first in a series of outside producers enlisted to help the Ramones conquer American radio. He failed. Good songs like Danny Says, I'm Affected and Rock 'N' Roll High School can't overcome muddled production and band infighting. At least with Chinese Rock Dee Dee finally managed to get a proper drug song on a Ramones LP. Deep cut: Let's Go https://amzn.to/2W5Zkxw

Pleasant Dreams - 10CC's Graham Gouldman takes over the producer's chair, trying to inject his hit-making magic. He failed. Except for three Joey songs: We Want The Airwaves, She's A Sensation and the blistering The KKK Took My Baby Away, this may be the least-inspired collection of Ramones songs. Deep cut: Sitting In My Room https://amzn.to/2KZh5rZ

Subterranean Jungle - Producer Ritchie Cordell (the man who wrote I Think We're Alone Now) helps the Ramones get back to basics, and presides over an underrated Ramones LP. Fan favorite Psycho Therapy blends well with Dee Dee's Outsider and Joey's My-My Kind Of A Girl, and Little Bit O' Soul is their best cover since Needles & Pins. Deep cut: What'd Ya Do? https://amzn.to/3dmY5Ql

Too Tough To Die - The Ramones are back! And so is Tommy Ramone as producer. Coincidence? Mama's Boy, Chasing The Night and Howling At The Moon are as good as any Ramones song, and Dee Dee's Wart Hog would be a live-concert highlight for years--even after Dee Dee left the band. New drummer Ritchie Ramone was an energetic shot in the arm. Deep cut: No Go https://amzn.to/2z5pyqJ

Animal Boy - The first Ramones album not to feature any cover songs, it's also the boys' heaviest LP in a while, Animal Boy features one of their best songs, My Brain Is Hanging Upside Down (Bonzo Goes To Bitburg). Something To Believe In and Somebody Put Something In My Drink are late-era classics, and She Belongs To Me is an underrated gem! Deep cut: Mental Hell https://amzn.to/35x5Hgc

Halfway To Sanity - The photo on the Ramones tenth LP sees the band starting to show their age, but don't be fooled because I Wanna Live and Bop 'Til You Drop hit just as hard as ever! While critics wanted more Joey songs to balance out the Dee Dee-heavy album, Dee Dee shows great range, from the poppy Go Lil' Camaro Go to the crazed I Lost My Mind. Deep cut: I'm Not Jesus https://amzn.to/2WqyD5B

Brain Drain - This last album with Dee Dee contains their last great songs: I Believe In Miracles, Pet Sematary and holiday-headbanger Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight). Deep cut: Zero Zero UFO https://amzn.to/2SDN45b

Ramones Mania - Still the best anthology on the band https://amzn.to/2L1tify

It's Alive - The band live and in their prime; a stellar concert album https://amzn.to/2YwUGdg

End Of The Century - The Ramones story brilliantly told; one of the best rock docs https://amzn.to/2L20a88

Rock And Roll High School - A charming time capsule that's aging extremely well https://amzn.to/2YBol5a

Lobotomy - Dee Dee's story in his own words https://amzn.to/2zfdmDK

Commando - Johnny tells his side of things https://amzn.to/3dol7pF
