How To Use Your Off-Hand in Minecraft

Описание к видео How To Use Your Off-Hand in Minecraft

The off-hand is the most underutilized feature in Minecraft. You see, while most people are using their off-hand for a shield, you can also use it to hold torches which you can place easily while holding tools, and you can even use the shield slot with blocks to quickly build while keeping tools at the ready if you have a mistake.

About this video: If there is one feature in Minecraft that I feel like a lot of people for get to use it is their off-hand. Now, Minecraft’s UI doesn’t do us any favors here as it shows a shield, which implies that is all that would go in this slot. However, that is far from the case.

Sure, a shield can go in the off-hand, and that is the first that you should be using the shield slot for. Simply right-click with the shield, and you will be able to protect yourself from attacks using it.

From there though, let’s take a look at torches because I think this is the most useful feature for the off-hand. You can put torches in your off-hand, and then, you can place them by right-clicking while you are mining, building, etc. It is extremely helpful to make sure things stay lite up.

What about building, though? Well, you can place any building block into your shield slot and place it anywhere by right-clicking. This is great if you are building and prone to making mistakes. You can build while keeping your pickaxe, shovel, etc. out.

There is one limitation to using your off-hand/shield slot for with these features though. It only works on Java Edition. Minecraft Bedrock only allows shields in your shield slot which begs the question. When are they going to add the ability to use the shield slot with other blocks on Bedrock?

With that being said though, that is all that you need to know about using the off-hand in Minecraft. Let us know if you have any questions and enjoy using your shield slot for more than just a shield!
