Bentley has introduced refreshed versions of its Continental GT and GTC Speed models, now powered by a hybrid V-8 system. This new setup produces an impressive 779 horsepower along with 738 pound-feet of torque, making it the most powerful Bentley ever built. Despite this power boost, it still reaches a top speed of 208 miles per hour, which is on par with the previous model.

The hybrid system used in this model is similar to those seen in other high-performance vehicles within the Volkswagen Group, like the Porsche Panamera, Cayenne Turbo, and Lamborghini Urus SE. At the heart of this system is a 25.9-kilowatt-hour battery located at the rear of the car, which powers an electric motor. This motor sits between the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 engine and an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The electric motor on its own produces 187.4 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, enhancing performance at lower engine speeds and smoothing out gear transitions. It can also function independently, allowing the car to reach speeds of up to 87 miles per hour using only electric power. The electric-only range is approximately 50 miles, based on European WLTP tests.

Bentley has also upgraded the twin-turbo V-8 engine with more efficient turbochargers and a refined fuel injection system, enabling it to deliver 592 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque on its own. However, the combined torque of the system is slightly less than expected due to differing peak output points for the engine and motor.

In terms of appearance, Bentley has updated the exterior of the Continental GT, adding new single headlamps and more detailed taillights. The interior remains luxurious, continuing the brand's tradition. To improve handling, the car now features updated twin-valve dampers, rear-wheel steering, and a rear-biased weight distribution.

Production is slated to start in the third quarter of this year, and the new hybrid Continental GT Speed is expected to meet the high-performance standards Bentley fans have come to appreciate.
