Welcome to the Guided Climbing Adventure experience. Prior to arriving at the park, we recommend and encourage the following:
-Eat a nutritious meal
-Drink plenty of water
-Dress for the weather
[A warm jacket, gloves with a grip (no mittens), thick pants, and appropriate shoes are required to have an enjoyable experience. Because this experience takes place in the air, it will be significantly colder once you are on course. Long puffy coats and beanies with poms on them are discouraged as they will interfere with the safety gear. Outdoor clothing will not be provided by The Forge.]

To begin your adventure, head to the ropes course towers. The ropes course is located on the West Side of The Forge: Lemont Quarries. We recommend parking in Parking Lot 1, if spots are available. Cross over the footbridge and head to your right. You will see a shipping container labeled “Lockers”. Head past the Lockers, and straight towards the “Check-In” containers.

A staff member will confirm you have a signed waiver and will take your weight for safety protocol. You will then receive a personalized wristband that indicates the activity you will be participating in and its start time. A staff member will give you a brief orientation and guide you through the gear-up process. Once everyone is geared up, it’s time to hit the practice lines! Depending on group size, this entire process may take up to 20 minutes.

When everyone has completed the practice lines, the climbing tour can begin. An adventure guide will secure you to the tower, and from there, lead you on an adventure through our challenge elements. This guided tour will typically run between one and a half hours to two and a half hours, depending on group size and skill level.

After the fun is over, you will remove your gear and be able to enjoy the other winter activities we offer at the park. We recommend warming up with a hot chocolate at The Foundry on the East Side of the park.
