BMW keys are no longer necessary with current iDrive and Apple iPhone. In this video you'll see a quick and clear set up on how to leave your car keys at home. I'm not sure what package the car needs for the Apple Car Key. On my 2022 M340i it is not available and actually says on the window sticker that it has been deleted because of the chip shortage.

The iDrive version on the Z4 is 7 and the iPhone 13 Pro Max is running iOS 15.4. The Apple Watch used is a Series 6 with Watch OS 8.5.
