The other day I saw this advertisement...

STOP Selling! START Coaching!

...and this expert's "system" is supposed to help you stop selling, and yet get all the coaching clients you want.

Riiiight. I happen to actually know this person's system, and, I know that there is selling/marketing involved.

Marketers are sooo good at rationalizing... "what I teach is not really selling..." is what many will tell you.

What I recommend to you is this:

Look at the actions that expert / marketer is doing in front of you, to try to get you to sign up.

Those actions are likely the same things they will teach you to do.

Or, at least we know that those actions are what the marketer believe is effective.

Here is the bottom line:

Unless you are the fortunate few who gets all your business from word-of-mouth only (if you aren't -- keep serving wholeheartedly and you will get closer and closer!) ...the truth I've seen is that all businesses need to market. All businesses need to sell.

Stop believing anyone who tells you "This system requires no selling!"

The key is to ask what kind of selling is involved? How is it done, and would I feel great about it?

The type of selling I do is this:

1. I share my ideas for free, frequently and prolifically.

2. Those who are consume my content will eventually see that I sell affordable workshops that give a deeper experience of me (and of the community I facilitate) than just free content could do alone.

3. Those who consume and love my workshops may then be privately invited (by me) to join my Group Coaching program, or they might inquire about 1-1 coaching with me. In those private conversations, I genuinely (and gently) recommend my service if I believe they will love it, based on their interactions with my content thus far. Then, I simply answer their questions if they have any. If they aren't interested, I don't push, I don't pursue. I simply continue sharing my free content, knowing they will see it and be served by it.

It's all about serving as generously as we can. Then, getting to know our audience and aligning our paid services to what they really need.

Keep selling, but do it from a heart of genuine service, and it will bring you all the business you need.
