Thyroid Hormones are essential for our body to function well. The Thyroid hormones regulate the basal metabolic rate, regulate the heat in our body, regulate moods and they balance our energy.
Hypothyroidism means an underactive Thyroid.
It means that the thyroid gland does not produce or release enough thyroid hormones or thyroxine. A low level of thyroxine and high level of TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone) indicates an underactive thyroid (Hypothyroidism).
Signs and symptoms of Hypothyroidism
1) Fatigue – extreme fatigue and sluggishness to perform even minor tasks.
2) Lethargy and drowsiness.
3) Cannot tolerate cold- feel cold very easily.
4) Puffiness of the face
5) Constipation
6) Dry skin
7) Excessive hairfall.
8) Weight gain
9) Depression and negative thoughts.
