Dr. Anand Ranganathan: CAA Is Morally Just Because The Border Countries Are Islamic Republics

In today's discussion on Times Now, on the show "NewsHour Debate" with anchor Pranesh Roy, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) is the focal point. So much has been said about the Citizenship Amendment Act, with the noise of negative narrative surrounding the act leading to an attempt to create confusion in the minds of people. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee says Muslim people will be kept in detention camps. Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM Chief, says the CAA will reduce people to second-class citizens of India. MK Stalin accused BJP of using the CAA as a tool ahead of Lok Sabha elections. PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti says the CAA will lead to another partition.

CAA is a law that discriminates on the basis of religion. India is a secular country, and nobody can be discriminated on the basis of religion, says Sarvanan Annadurai.
Article 14 does not apply to CAA because, in the context of citizenship, Union govt enjoys greater prerogative, says J Sai Deepak.
