NITECORE EDC33 Battery Endurance Test

It's important to understand what you can count on in terms of actual field performance from any piece of kit. Spec sheets are often misleading and can lead to people being caught out in the field in undesirable circumstances.

I run two types of battery endurance test. The first is a single output mode, and then run the battery to complete exhaustion. This is the type of test applied to the NITECORE EDC33 in High output level.

The test was modified slightly in that as the battery burns down, I test the ability to go into the Turbo modes. This shows you how the Turbo outputs look as the battery depletes.

The second test uses the light in one or two different output levels over several hours in the wilderness. This shows what it's like to be out in the dark in a wilderness environment. The only light you have is your EDC. How for can it take you in a practical setting? This is very useful for lights in which the burn down curve is not know or was created under indoor laboratory conditions.

This particular test was performed at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas.
