The kids are going to hate me for this. But parents, many kids have figured out a way to hide apps on their smartphone and they're sharing that information all over social media.

People are blowing up Snapchat, Reddit and TikTok by sharing how-tos to take advantage of this feature in iOS 14. See how different these icons appear? Here's how they're doing it. And how you can do it too.

Open Apple's "shortcuts" app. Tap the + in the top right corner. Then "add action". Choose 'scripting'. Here's where you write code essentially. Choose "Open app", then "choose" and pick the app you want to change. We'll select "snapchat". Then, tap "Next". You can change the name of the app here. We'll type in "music". Then tap this Icon and you can select one of these icons to display instead. Tap done, then the share button, where you can add it to the homescreen.

So now, when you tap the music icon, it'll open Snapchat. Secretly. Pretty clever.

They can also hide entire pages of apps from the homescreen. Place all the apps you want to hide on one page. Tap and hold to get the wiggling apps...then tap the dots and choose to hide that page. It won't show when you swipe.

To see what apps are installed, swipe right...past the last page of apps, this is where you'll see any app on the phone. Tap the search bar to see the apps in alphabetical order.

All this seems confusing and hard to do, but it isn't if you follow the steps and that's what they're doing. For anyone trying to hide something, they'll find a way and there are lots of instructions available on the social media they use.
