This is a nice little game to play with your dog and all you need is a ball and a bucket!
Great training tool to help your dog learn how to fetch!
For starters, start small. One to three balls at a time at a short distance will help build your dogs focus and understanding of the game.
Drop the ball close to you and instruct your dog to get it with simple cues like “ball” and “go get it” (using your finger is helpful as well”.
Don’t get too excited!! (I know it’s hard but this will help your dogs focus because the game is not finished)
Once your dog gets the ball, stay close to them and instruct them to come, drop, and trade the ball for the treat. (This also helps with recall)

Once your dog does this five to tens times, incorporate the bucket!
Same rules apply, just be sure to follow your dog with the bucket.
Place the bucket underneath your dogs mouth and instruct them to drop it. Once they do, reward them with a treat and a good job!

Once your dog has got this progression down, add some more balls and distance to the equation but this time, don’t follow your dog! Let them get the ball and come back to you! (Tapping the bucket when they get the ball is a great cue to use)

Another progression would be to place the bucket on the ground and instruct your dog through the game without touching the bucket! (This is our next hurdle)
