The Babusenan Brothers make serious art cinema in India. They explore the human mind and try to unravel the existential problems that nearly everyone encounters. constantly fighting the CBFC for their right to self expression they are used to taking that body to court. Their first film "The Painted House" took the CBFC to court and got cleared with absolutely no cuts. They are currently fighting for their 5th film 'DARKNESS' which criticizes the rising intolerance of right-wing fundamentalism in India. Their new, 6th film MAYA is now ready to do the film festival round. Each of their films is an experiment of sorts: use of metaphors, dissent, stringing up conversations about life and so on. Their films have been showcased at several international festivals and won many awards.
Before embarking on their filmmaking journey, the brothers led successful media careers in Mumbai.
Santosh has a PhD in the Narratology of Cinema and Satish has an MDes in Visual communication from IIT Bombay
