A man drowned Friday morning while swimming after his two young children who were floating away on inflatables in Turlock Lake. The man ran into trouble after trying to swim after his children who were being blown further away from shore. Another man on a boat heard the victim’s wife screaming for help. He located the victim below the surface and jumped in. That rescuer, who happened to be a former volunteer fire fighter, pulled the victim to shore and started CPR. The man later died.
