What is COE? COE stands for Certificate of Employment. It refers to a certificate from the employer specifying the dates of the employee's engagement and the termination of employment as well as the types of work employed.

The employer SHALL ISSUE a Certificate of Employment within three (3) days from the time of the request by the employee.

Who Can Request a Certificate of Employment? All employees are entitled to a COE.

Paalala: Hindi po clearance ang COE. Clearance and COE are two different things. What if meron pang accountabilities or di pa cleared si empleyado, pwede pa din bang mag request ng COE? The answer? Yes. If you are the HR professional assigned to this area, there are ways to address this like putting a disclaimer or a note in the very COE itself stating that the COE itself is not a clearance from the company.
